Who am I and how do I get away with this stuff we call coaching and development?
Well, I am often your best friend and your worst nightmare if you are my client. As confusing as that may seem, it does make perfect sense. As your best friend, I want you to be the best you can be, have the best you can have and live life as full as you can live it. As your worst nightmare, I also know that at times you will make excuses for why that is not happening as quickly as you want it to happen. You will want to blame your partner, your employees, your boss, your spouse, the economy, the weather or even your kids. Seriously I have heard them all at one time or another over the past almost 25 years of doing this stuff.
So, that is why I have to be both your best friend and your worst nightmare. When you want to find an answer somewhere besides looking in the mirror, I will not let you. When you want to tell me that there was nothing else you could have done or tried, well, I won’t let you do that either. If you think the problem is that your job or business is somehow different, then guess again.
