This is kind of a touchy subject, but I’m going to steer around the core of it and do my best not to upset anyone or make any sort of political statement. That’s not my intention here. I just want to share a couple of thoughts as the world feels a little tumultuous right now.
There are a lot of opportunities for us to feel victimized, out of control, or somehow less self-responsible for what’s going on in our work lives. So I want to take a moment to remind everyone—especially those who may be struggling to stay focused—that if you know what your goals are, and you know the formula it takes to reach those goals, then the vast majority of outside noise doesn’t have to derail you.
In fact, I’d argue that for 99% of the people I work with, the opportunity to create success and live the life you want to live isn’t dramatically impacted by most of what’s going on in the world.
Sure, there’s chaos. Things can feel uncertain—politically, economically, globally. But if you don’t let that distract you from doing the work that needs to get done each day, I still believe that committed people can create their own opportunities. They can generate enough business, earn the money they need, and live the life they choose.
Now, yes—things are getting more expensive. So the numbers may change. But the core truth doesn’t.
Don’t let other people’s bad news or negative perceptions throw you off course. Don’t reach for the comfort of excuses just because someone else is waving the “it’s too hard” flag. There’s still plenty of work out there. There are still people who need the services and products we all provide.
If you simply decide, “I’m going to go after what’s available,” and you let others sit on the sidelines—complaining, shrinking back, making excuses—you’ll give yourself the opportunity to finish 2025 strong and launch into 2026 with serious momentum.
Don’t buy into bad news.
It won’t take you where you want to go.
Stay focused. Stay committed.
Be proactive. Be the best version of yourself.
And the results will show up.
Accept no excuses—especially not from yourself.
