Hey everybody, I’m Charlie Hauck, President, Founder, and Lead Trainer at Growth Dynamics. Today’s message is simple. There’s not a lot of warm and fuzzy here, and that’s intentional because of the topic I want us all to think about: Am I dealing with facts, or am I dealing with feelings?
The truth is, we’re often dealing with a mix of both. But at the end of the day, the things that truly matter are the facts.Too often, particularly in our business lives and careers, we place too much value on emotions. When we do that, we may not address the facts—or worse, we outright ignore or deny them.
By neglecting the facts, we risk making decisions that feel good emotionally in the moment but steer us wrong over time. When the dust settles, those emotion-driven choices can lead us to places we didn’t intend to go.
So, when you’re faced with a big decision—whether about spending your money, your time, or your energy—I encourage you to embrace the emotional spark that ignites the idea. That emotional connection is valuable, but don’t let it overshadow the facts you’ll need to face to turn your vision into reality.
Ask yourself:
- Is this opportunity as great as it seems?
- Can I afford the price—financially, emotionally, or otherwise?
- Are there other priorities I’m ignoring, like paying off the bank, my car loans, rent, or daily expenses?
I love the compelling power of emotions—they inspire us and keep us moving. But we have to balance them with the facts. The reality is, if we deny the facts, we may end up eating a slice of humble pie along the way.
This has been my experience: emotions drive us, but facts ground us. If we can embrace both, we’ll make better decisions and live more balanced, fulfilling lives. So, dream big! Let your dreams drive you. But stay honest, stay grounded, and don’t let emotions take you over a cliff you can’t recover from.
Thanks for watching and listening. Take care of yourselves, and remember: the world will be good to you if you’re good to it in return.
