Hey everybody, Charlie Hauck here, Founder and Lead Trainer at Growth Dynamics, back again for Fast Tip Friday.
I'm feeling a little loose and wild about all these lately. It just seems like my brain is into all kinds of different stuff these days, so I don’t know if you’ll like the message this week or not, but we’ll give it a shot.
Here we are—three Milk-Bone dog treats. I feel like I need to remind everyone that, just like my lovely little Blue Tick Hound, Ellie, we all need motivation to learn and change our behaviors. When we got Ellie a year and a half ago, she was a rescue dog from West Virginia. She had a crazy life—she came from a puppy mill or something like that—and she didn’t know how to behave in any way, shape, or form other than barking, growling, and threatening people.
Now, 18 months later, she’s pretty much as sweet as a dog can be. She still has some issues we’re working on, but by and large, over these 18 months, we’ve worked really hard with her. We know Ellie is very motivated by treats, and for the right treat, the right reward, Ellie will do almost anything I ask her to do.
I hate to break it to you all, but we’re a lot like Ellie. If the reward isn’t there, we’re probably not going to change our behaviors. We’ll keep doing what we’re doing—fighting our way through things, growling, grumbling, and not doing the things we know we should be doing to become more productive, successful, and consistent.
So I want to remind you all: find out what your "Milk-Bone" is, and figure out how to get it when you need it, to keep you on the right track, doing the right things that will get you the right results. These results will reward you with the life you want.
If it’s not worth it to you, you’re not going to do it. Ellie will do almost anything for a Milk-Bone—you should start thinking like Ellie.
Have a great Friday! Reward yourself this weekend, do the right stuff, and come back Monday ready to rock and roll and do the work you know will pay off in the way you want to be paid.
Take care everybody, and thanks for watching!
