Fast Tip Friday: Mentors, Models, and Making a Difference

Jul 25, 2025 6:00:00 AM

Hey, welcome back. It's Charlie. How could Growth Dynamics—President, Lead Trainer, Founder—all that good stuff that really doesn't make a bit of difference about who's on this end of the microphone.

But I just want to share a little wisdom, like I do every Friday with this Fast Tip Friday podcast.

So here's what I want you to think about. I want you to really stop, and I'd like you to push yourself back from the desk a little bit, put your hands in your lap, take a big, deep breath, and I want you to really think about who your mentors or who your role models are—and what they mean to you, and why they've accomplished the fact that you look at them as a role model or a mentor. Someone you truly respect for the success and the life that they live.

And I want you to slow down a little bit and think about: What is it about that person? The way they communicate with others? The way they get things done? The way they work with integrity? The way they take care of what has to get taken care of and don’t make excuses when it doesn’t get done?

I want you to think of those role models as someone you want to be like—not just have a role model, but live up to that role model.

And think about: What do they do that I should probably be more focused on getting done or committed to the way they have? So that when you start to grow up a little bit—and I mean that term endearingly, not critically—when you grow up a little bit and you've put a few years on your human mileage, so to speak, I want people to look up to you and see what it is you do that makes you someone they can admire. Someone they'd like to emulate. Someone that they believe in.

If you ask them for help or a little bit of coaching and support—someone that you'll be proud to say, I helped that person get where they're going, because someone else helped me get where I've gotten.

Find a role model. Commit to the role model. Make the changes you need to make—and that's not negative. I always worry that people hear this Fast Tip Friday and think I'm being critical. Change can always be positive.

So make yourself a role model by looking at the role models that you admire most and doing the things that they do that you haven't committed to yet—and watch how powerful your life can be. Can become. Not just for you, but for someone else that you care enough about to do the right things when it matters most.

So:
Be a good role model.
Find a good role model.
Leave a role model.
Live a role model life.
And leave a legacy out there behind you.

Thanks for taking the time to look and listen, and reach out to Growth Dynamics if we can help you figure out what it is you want to work on to make your life more powerful.
