This one is something I have to remind myself of regularly, and that is to slow down and figure out why I am reacting the way I am to any situation.
There are a couple of options.
One, right off the bat, our egos are in control, and they are upset with the answer we got. We don’t like the explanation, and we might want to tell someone to go jump off a bridge—probably not the best sales advice I can give you today!
So, why are you reacting the way you are?
Is it your ego? Are you overwhelmed? Are you overstimulated?
Is your reaction justified? That’s a very valid point as well.
Before you start making decisions, jumping off, or doing something you might not really want to do because you're caught in the moment—slow yourself down and figure out exactly what is going on. Regroup, and then move forward.
If you're anything like me and have a very high dominant personality, we like to make rash decisions, move on, and not worry about the consequences. But that’s not always in our best interest.
So, remember to slow down and ask yourself:
- Why are you reacting the way you are?
- Is that reaction justified, or should we reevaluate and find a new way to solve our problem?
And that’s my tip for you on this Fast Tip Friday!
