Everybody, welcome back to Fast Tip Friday! This one's a little wacky today, but hey, you get the good with the bad. Maybe it’ll be good; maybe it won’t. Let’s see what happens.
In front of me, I have three bags of Cabot’s cheddar popcorn: Cheddar, Caramel Cheddar, and Sea Salt Caramel. It’s all good. It’s cheddar popcorn—what could be better?
So, what’s the point? Well, it’s simple. I have a second home in Vermont, and my wife and I have become addicted to this stuff. The first time we bought it, we were checking out at Mehuron’s Grocery Store in Waitsfield, Vermont. The cashier smiled and said, “Oh, you’ve got your two bags of crack, don’t you?” That’s how addicting this popcorn is. Once you open the bag, you won’t want to close it. I’m honestly amazed I haven’t eaten it all in one sitting.
Here’s what I want you to think about: there are so many great things in life—so many amazing flavors out there. Some of us are adventurous with flavors, willing to try anything and everything. Others prefer to stick to what they know. I’m a little of both. There are some things I’ll try without hesitation, and others I won’t touch. But here’s the thing: if you don’t try, you’ll never know.
For example, I’ve tried sushi. And honestly? I hate it. I don’t get it. I don’t like it. And to all of you who eat sushi, I say this with love: you might have a genetic issue! (Just kidding.)
The point is, find opportunities in your life to step out of your routine. Try something new. Taste something you haven’t tasted before. Break out of your comfort zone, and learn to embrace change, challenge, and the unknown. For some people, that’s a way of life. For others, staying in the familiar is what feels safe.
I’m not saying you should go crazy or set yourself up to fail. But there are so many great “flavors” in life—so much variety to explore. The next time you have a chance to try something different, take it. You might like it, or you might not.
For me, I’ll never eat another piece of sushi, but at least I can say I tried it. Do yourself a favor: step off the beaten path, create a new experience for yourself, and see what happens.
Who knows? You might find something that makes you happy. Maybe it won’t be as good as these Cabot’s flavors (because, seriously, they’re amazing), but it’ll be worth the effort to try.
Take care, and enjoy the journey!
