Fast Tip Friday: When to Let Clients Decide

May 1, 2026 6:00:00 AM

Hey everybody. Sarah Waple here, President at Growth Dynamics, and I am here with a Fast Tip Friday.

We are pulling out my favorite little book once again for a quote, and this one is kind of comical. Hopefully you'll agree. It's 18 Things My Dad Was Right About. And as you know, my dad, Charlie Hauck, happens to be the founder and is still my partner here at Growth Dynamics, so I thought this was an appropriate chapter to pull from.

And this one hits home so much, especially if you've been working with Charlie or Growth Dynamics for a long time, and it is: not much is worth fighting about.

And as a Fast Tip Friday, you might be wondering, what are you talking about, Sarah?

Simple: don’t fight with your prospects and your clients. Don’t fight when you don’t have any reason to. Let people make their decisions. Give them the information they need, and it is their choice to know what they want to do and to handle things the way that they would like to.

It might not be how you want, but fighting is never going to get you closer to the answer you want—whether that's collecting a decision, whether that's closing an opportunity with a win.

The more you fight with people, the more they question if you are really on their side. And no one wants to work with people when they don’t feel that you are on their side.

Be that trusted advisor. Give them advice. Help them when you can, but never fight with anyone that you don’t really have a good reason to.

And just disagreeing is probably not a good reason to pick a fight.

So keep that in mind as you approach your next week, and enjoy your weekend after this Fast Tip Friday.
