Time for another Fast Tip Friday! Today's topic is a head game topic, which are really always my favorite part of business development and personal development. It’s knowing what head game you've got to play with yourself to get where you want to go.
So today's topic is something that I personally had to learn a long time ago. It was really what helped me get back up on my feet after some failure in my life and some challenges that I had to face. But this one idea is something that when I was on the client side of a training engagement, it's something that really helped me realize a very important lesson about what did or did not define success.
This idea is something that may be a little bit difficult to interpret or sometimes apply, but I still think if you give it some time and let it percolate in your brain, what drips out of that coffee that I'd like you to drink will be easy to digest. It'll be pretty tasty and really help you. The idea sounds simple, but it's not always easy to apply.
So here it is. You are always better than you think you are. We are stuck in a prison of our own creation about what we're worth and how good we are and how good we can be. And so oftentimes that simple idea of “am I allowed to be this successful?” “Am I allowed to enjoy this much success?” “Am I allowed to really have that life that I see other people enjoying?” “Or is that something that I'm not good enough to experience or acquire?” And I'm going to tell you this because it's something I had to learn. You are so much better than you think you are.
Whatever you did or did not do, whatever you succeeded at or failed at, those outcomes and those results do not define your potential and your capability.
So as you start into the end of the year, as we wind down 2023 and we get ready to step into 2024, I'd like everyone to take some time and think about what you would do if you just believed you are a little better than you think you are today? What goals would you send? What aspirations would you pursue? What kind of commitments would you make to yourself? And what kind of commitments would you make to other people? And then in turn, what kind of commitments would you ask them and expect them to keep with you? All of those answers are found when you believe you are worth it and you are better than you are now. No matter how good you are, you can be the most successful person on your team.
You can be running the best business, you can have the most profitability. You can have a wonderful family of wonderful children doing wonderful things. But you and all of them are better than the people that you see in front of you and inside of you today. So I'd really like to ask everyone, as they get ready to evaluate what kind of year 2023 was and look forward to creating the type of year you want to have and enjoy in 2024, to start off with a simple idea that you're better than you think you are, you're worth more than you think you are. But the only way you're going to find out if that's true is to dare yourself to cross a threshold of fear or anxiety and take some challenges on head on with a plan and some tactics and some activities that are accountable and really step into the future and live the life that you want to live because you are worth it and you are good enough to achieve it. The only thing that's really standing in your way is your belief in you. And that's the end. Take care.
