Hey everybody, welcome back! It’s Charlie Hauck, President and Founder of Growth Dynamics. How’s everyone doing today?
This one’s not necessarily about sales training or business development. Instead, it’s about what you give back to the world. I’ve spoken before about being a mentor, a mentee, or offering people advice and guidance along the way without expecting anything in return. I love those relationships and opportunities.
But today, I want to get a little more specific, a little more universal, and—if I may—a little karmic.
I’m wearing a shirt today with the old logo for the Chester County Challenge for Cancer. This was a charity bike ride sponsored by Chester County Hospital, where my wife works as an oncology nurse. For 25 years, this ride raised money to support patients with special financial needs—helping them get to chemotherapy appointments or easing the burden of challenges they faced due to their diagnosis.
Whether it was having to quit their jobs or dealing with financial strain, the Chester County Challenge for Cancer committee generated significant funds to provide services and support for people facing one of the hardest experiences imaginable: a cancer diagnosis.
I had the privilege of serving on the board of directors for over 10 years. I started out as a participant, but eventually, I had the opportunity to give more than just a couple of hours pedaling my bike. It became one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
This cause was close to my heart—not just because of my wife's career, her commitment to her patients, and her success—but also because it gave me the chance to match her effort in my own way. Being on this committee meant a lot to me, and it’s something I’m incredibly proud of.
So, I want to encourage all of you to look for an opportunity to give back. I know not everyone can dedicate their time. You may have kids, a family, or other responsibilities. Perhaps you’re back in school or working toward a degree. I get it—priorities are important.
But if you ever get the chance, give back to something bigger than yourself. For me, this ride was so much bigger than I am. I’m honored to wear this shirt and to have been part of such an impactful cause.
I truly believe we all have opportunities in life where we can give so others may have. I live by this motto: The more you give, the more you get. This experience exemplified that credo. By giving my time, effort, and energy, I gained so much in return. I hope others benefited from it as well.
As we step into 2025, I challenge you to go beyond yourself. The world is bigger than any one of us, and it needs more good than we often see. Be the change. Be a part of the solution. Find something worthy of your time, attention, and energy.
Thanks for listening. I hope this message resonates with you. Have a great weekend, make your life better, and make someone else’s life better as well.
